1918 - 2018
The year 2018 was a busy year for the members of the South Amherst Historical Society. It was a Centennial year for the Village of South Amherst. The Historical Society went above and beyond to make this a very special year for the village.
The Centennial Dance was held January 27th 2018.
The Society voted to design and sell T-Shirts at the February meeting.
In April we displayed our "Happy Birthday South Amherst" banner.
In May the society made their appearance in the Memorial Day Parade.
The Centennial Cruise-In was hosted by the society on a very hot day in June.
In June, the South Amherst Historical Calendar became available at the South Amherst Alumni Banquet in July.
In July the society attended the Centennial Community Picnic which was sponsored by the South Amherst Park Board.
On September 9th an Ohio Historical Marker of the original town hall was dedicated.
Our plans to be in the Halloween Parade was put on hold due to wet, rainy day.
December has been a very busy month, developing a web page and planning for a successful 2019.
Looking back throughout the year we need to be very proud of all the accomplishments that we have achieved.
As we research history may we continue to have fun making history.
